Hey guys,

Im going to get some of these spun up for GOR, but with a minimum length order for material will need atleast one more to make price a little more reasonable.

So whos in for a pair of these?

Was looking at using Nylon or alloy. 600grams VS 1.3kg, .

Price will be around $100 each ($200 a pair) unless someone else here can get them spun up cheaper?

Also give some in put on design. I just drew these up quickly, pretty simple parts, But there may be something special worth doing I havnt thought about?

Im already bussy running around melbourne picking up iO bits for people that live somewhere better :) (i better email you!)

What lift do people want the most? 20mm/40mm or 25mm/50mm?

Thanks for you help Glen and others.

$200 for the pair. I had

$200 for the pair.

I had enough material from doing GOR spacers, to do a 25mm spacers pair also.

The guy I had make them is a tool and ill never do business with him again! he is demanding more $, So i need to sell these, Im making $0 on them. I did these purely to help any forum members that may want some.

GOR is a great bloke paying more than i wanted already, (only want to cover costs) So Id like to refund some of his $ and will do as soon as someone buys these.

Or even better, if anyone wants them installed on some coilovers?

spacer

If these are around 25 mm, they should be perfect for Fab72. Unless I am wrong, he does have the high spring plate strut and the spring from the lower spring strut, this should have gave him 25 mm or less, so adding these spacer should be perfect and have a lift of around 50 mm and that should be safe to drive without changing anything.....Send him a PM, he wants a set !!!!

I thought that you sold these coil over....

Not unless he has another

Not unless he has another pair.  I got them and fitted them last weekend.  Wheel angles look good but will get a wheel alignment done all the same.  Very snug fit .... someone knew what they were doing when they measured up.

Thanks again Glen..... some pics to follow.

Mitsubishi outlander 16"x6.5" rims +38 or Mitsubishi FTO 16"x6.5" +38 rims are perfect - great with 225/75-16" tyres and very cheap on gumtree/ebay/forums etc.

I've ended up with 11 FTO rims!!!!

I don't think that FAb have the 225/75/16....from memory they are 235/70/16 KM2 ?, other use 205/80/16 (Natsterrr)

What a memory Claude..... yep

What a memory Claude..... yep I'm running the 235/70/16 KM2's.  The amount of kms I do will see these tyres outlast me.

IF I am up for new tyres on day, I'd stick with the KM2's but go to the 245's like Glen has.  That extra bit of rim overhang looks tough as hell.  Mind you, with the 235's at least I don't get scrapping.

Well it's (almost) done. As

Well it's (almost) done.

As promised here is a side on view of "PAJIO-4".

In my opinion this is the most cost effective moderate lift that combines extra height without compromising steering angles, on road driveability or (in theory at least) long term durability.

Front suspension has the higher perch struts from a later model (roughly 1.5 inches from memory), standard io springs and 1 inch strut spacers.

Rear is 2 inch raised King Springs, 2 inch 80 series Land Cruiser front spring spacers, VB-VS Commodore adjustable pan hard rod and (when they finally arrive) Toyota Hilux LN36-46 rear Iron Man foam cel shocks.

The 235/70/16 tyres also give it roughly another 1.5 inches extra height - under the diff which is super valuable.

The tape measure is extended so the top of it is at exactly 1 metre to put things in perspective.

Now this set up many not suit everyone and the purpose for which your vehicle is intended to be used will influence your own set up, but for me who likes long distance touring with a bit of rough stuff (washaways, corrugations etc) and needs extra weigh carrying capabilities for a (soon) sub tank, dual battery set up, 1.6 metre long roof rack, rear storage unit, two spares on rims and supplies for up to 2 weeks at a time.... this is perfect.

Any questions.....ask away.  Information is best shared not kept.

Fab-io.

That looks fantastic.

I am going for the same set up, once my car is running again. I already have the rear spacers in. Still need to get hold of a set of hilux shocks and the pan hard rod.

How much bigger could your front spacers have been?

Thanks...glad you like it.

In my opinion any more lift via strut spacers would run the risk of popping a CV out at full droop.

I actually simulated this when I installed the spacers to be sure that they wouldn't pop out under full droop, then played around to see how much further I could have gone before they did pop out.  It's pretty much at the max now.

While I think of it, my rear suspension has the brake lines tight at full droop.  I don't plan to get it at that stage very often but if that's your capper, seriously look at getting longer brake hoses made up. 1 inch longer as a min. - won't need more than 2 inches.

nice io

Your io still looks great....

Do you have the 2 inches 80 series Land Cruiser front spring spacers fitted on the picture ? I am asking because the rear of my car looks pretty much the same (may be 10/15 mm lower, if any) and I only have the mazda spring (around 40 mm lift) . Yours have 2 inches lift spring with 2 more inches with the spacer (if fitted) ....or you have some weight in the back ....

Happy io

For Go-R http://pajerio.com/forum/max-lift-disagreement-camber-correction-droop some reading about the spacer.

Hi Claude...yep they're

Hi Claude...yep they're fitted in the pic.  The only thing not fitted are the shocks....it's currently sitting with no shocks at all.

Yep..... has weight in it.  Probably close to 100kg.  (Storage unit, fridge/freezer, battery and some other tools and recovery gear).  No sub tank just yet either.  The King Springs are shorter than the Astina ones in their static state (as you know).

Foam Cel and why

GO-R wrote:

Probably the fact that I seem to be a magnet to tracks with lots of corrugations.  The foam is meant to slow the fluid transfer within the shock and prevent foaming up of the fluid.  I did a fair bit of asking around and the ONLY people that were against Foam Cel technology were ARB who incidently don't stock them.

They are more of a touring shock rather than a heavy articulation/rock hopping/mud racing type shock.

They are also a big bore shock so I'm expecting that the top sheild may foul the body on the LHS near the top panhard rod mount.  If that's the case, I'll just remove the sheild and cable tie a rubber boot around the shaft (like a steering rack boot).

Fair enough mate.  Did you

Fair enough mate.  Did you have to modify the bush's? or was it a straight swap.

I just orded the Pan Hard Rod and am hopping to pick up some shocks tomorrow.  So im just finding out what I am in for.

I think I am going to go with the Pedders ones like Singlecell.

Cheers

Minimal mods required.

Panhard rod was a straight bolt up....really simple.

The shocks... I don't know yet but Claude io says the top mount is a straight bolt up but the bottom ones require you to remove your original io bushes from your old shocks and fit them to the new ones...press fit.

I'm actually going to spend some time down at a suspension shop to see if there is another manufacturers bush that will fit the shock and suit the io mount.

As a worse case scenario, it may require a small piece of tubing slipped over the lower bolt to fatten it up.

I'll let you know how I get on....hopefully tomorrow.

Ok cool, thank you, that would be good.

I am wanting to go on 4wd trip on the 1st of feb.  My chances of getting the following done is slim.

cv fixed

install the front spacers

install the pan hard rod

install the new shocks

We'll see how I go.

rear spacers

You wouldn't happen to have some spare rear spacers would you?

I carry a lot of wieght in the back also, and feel my car sit a little low when packed.

I've got king springs as well and also have just replaced my shocks (the standard KYB ones) will they still be siutable or will the extra lift be too much?

I'm happy to pay if you do have spares, its just I'll be in your area tonight and I'm going to be heading to Perth (road trip) on Teusday.

If you don't, I'll just order some off ebay for another trip :)

Cheers, Ben

Unfortunantly I do not have

Unfortunately I do not have any spare rear spacers.  I was running the KYB's with the spacer in the back and the ride on the road was normal, however when off road I had almost zero flex as the shock is almost maxed out all the time.  Today I installed some Pedders 8128 rear shocks (From a Hilux) to give me back some flex.

Cheers

Iron Man Foam Cel 24636FE

Iron Man Foam Cel 24636FE fitted...that completes my suspension mods (other than a wheel alignment).

These guys are off a Hilux LN36-46.  I paid $308 for the pair.  They're Aussie made and tested and carry a 2 year 40,000km warranty.

So I'm sure you want to know how they fitted up.  In short...piece of piss.

The top mount bush ID is the same as the ID on the OEM KYB's.  The only difference is that they don't run a metal sleeve.  No big deal in my opinion.  Many other vehicle types don't either.

The lower bush on the Iron Mans has a bigger ID than the KYB's.  Easily overcome by finding a bit of metal tube with a similar OD and getting the ID the same as the KYB's.  I found some tubing that was perfect size on the outside, but the inside was a bit smaller.  I just drilled it out to suit then cut it to length and slid it right in.

All up, including the manufacturing of the lower metal bush inserts, it took me about 40 minutes to fit...with hand tools only.

The LHS shocker is VERY close to the panhard rod mount (about 5mm clearance).  It doesn't bother me and if it does start to rub or make noises, I'll cut the outer tube of the shocker off and just cable tie a rubber boot around it (just like Rancho shocks have).

Here's a couple of pics (note the adjustable panhard rod fitted too.  (Won't be long now and that rear muffler is GONE!).
