i bought my 99 io back in juneish last year and its been a huge progect with alot of research to find parts (one downside of paying $400 for a car) one major part to find was a rear axle but all is fine for now and its looking to be registered by the end of the year with a few cosmetic things left to go 
is there  anyone else in the central queensland coast area (Mackay) ? it would be cool to meet up with a few other io owners some time next year . i have seen a few io's floating around where i live but i have new gotten to speak to any of the owners as far as i know there are 6 in the town i live in if any of them are on this forum it would cool to meet
