Hey guys,

just recently bought a 1999 4 door pajero io that needs abit of tlc to bring the old girl back to life.

also got a question for anyone that is able to answer as i cant seem to get a traght answer out of anybody, what is the biggest size wheel i can run on the io stock withought scrub? i can deal with a little bit of scrub full lock if i have to. Im used to land cruisers and patrols that you can put pretty much any size wheel and not have to worry about it?

cheers boys

Strut Pan

Short and sweet answer -

Later model higher strut pan - 225/75/16 fits with 99% no scrub with a little on full lock - I have run this combination on the standard rims no problems

Early model lower strut pan - Believe 215/70/16 from what i read on here, your biggest problem will be the height of the tyre scrubbing on the strut pan rather then scrub on body at full lock etc - I have not personally experienced this configuration

Being 1999 there is a fair chance you have the lower strut pan UNLESS it has been replaced with the higher strut pan (if you know the previous owner might be worth asking as it's a really popular mod)

Heaps of wheel size information on this forum is you search!

2002 5dr Pajero IO QA 2.0L Auto - Lifted, Locked!! 1.925 Low Range - Muddies (205/80/16) - Redback Extractors to 200cell cat to dump at diff Exhaust

No need to ask the previous owner ...

Just go measure the strut - details and pictures are in the strut data thread

old style vs new style Note:

old style vs new style

Note: if you run a 225/75-16 on the stock rim it will touch the chassis on full lock.
if you run outlander or fto rims (16x6.5-38) it just clears on full lock.

i wouldn't run anything bigger than a MT 225/75-16 on the new struts
