Hello, guys!

My super select lever is stuck. I took it off and discuvered that the round, brown plastic bush at the bottom of the lever is totally wasted and turned into garbadge.

However, when I tried to return the swith to the 2H mode with a screwdriver, I couldn't do it, it just doesn't move.

Should I be able to move that right part on the photo? The left one [-shaped moves normally.

Thank you!!!

I've never tried to move mine manually.

First - I don't think you're applying anywhere near enough leverage with that screwdriver - try cleaning out all the perished rubber scraps and reinstalling the shift lever and try shifting it with that - make sure the slots in the two shift rails are side by side when reinstalling.

A missing rubber ball will cause problems with the side-side selection of the lever, but not the fore-aft selection - I made a replacement ball from a polyurethane shock bushing, but they can be sourced separately from the lever.

That "peg" you see in the slot of the right shift rail is spring loaded - it pushes the shift lever over into the left shift rail - it's retained by a large hex head cap screw - you'll need to remove that to reinstall the lever - leave the spring & screw out whilst trying to shift the right rail or the spring will force the lever to the left rail.

Hopefully this helps - I can't do much more as I am a few thousand miles away from my Pajero right now.

Thank you, Fordem! Saw your replies in other similar threads, very helpful!

Yes, I assumed that that metal cylinder at the right side is a spring, but was not able to push it. Then I understood that it doesn't prevent the movement.

I was able to move the left part pretty easily, so I thought that the right part should require approx the same amount of force. And I wrong? Also, does it make sense to move the car a little bit so something inside aligned? May that be the case?

THANKS!

If the left one moves, just

If the left one moves, just move it so that you can get the lever back in. When mine did that, I managed to shuffle it into 4H and put the lever in upright and then shift back to 2H. With the missing bush you can shift between 2H and 4H, but it easily jumps out again once you move it sideways into 4Hlc. If you replace the bush it will be fine again.

Ok, resolved it. Chaged the ball and works perfect. But that pin is a nightmare. Spent a lot of time on that simple job, actuall. And also assemled it in a wrong way first - it turned out that the 3 bolt holes are not symmetrical...

Anyway, it's done. Only need to change the oil now.

Thank you for the response!

It can't fall inside, there's

It can't fall inside, there's a pin that holds it. It may just fall apart because of time, like mine.

Anyway, here are the numbers, they all fit. The same part is used on several different cars, like Io, L200, etc.
