Hi,

What is the best petrol for a Pajero IO 2000cc model 2004, 93 or 95 unleaded?

Thanks

93 or 95

This will depend where you are, in Australia the 95 have some additive and is a bit better fuel. This said, we have the 98 here and this is what I am using, a bit better fuel consumption and the engine is a bit more responsive. One thing that I noticed is that it take some time for your engine (or electronics of it) to fully adjust to the new fuel, I found that 3 full tank is needed....but this is a personal "feeling" and I have nothing more to back this up!

I have tried the 95 and I haven't found that much difference....

Check my built to improve a bit more the engine power....

93 or 95 I live in Namibia

93 or 95

I live in Namibia where there is only 93 and 95. I have always used 95. But when I start the car it smells petrol.

I would like to try if it is better with the 93?

Try it & see ...

First - where are you smelling the petrol - do you mean that the exhaust smells rich - in my experience, that is not unusual for a Mitsubishi vehicle - on a cold start, they seem to run exceedingly rich - but - if it's anything other than the exhaust, you probably have a leak somewhere that needs to be fixed.

In either case, I would not expect changing the grade of petrol used to have an impact on the smell of petrol, and the car will probably run fine on either grade, although you may notice less power and greater consumption on the lower grade - my iO, which has the 1.8 GDI engine, has a knock sensor, which will retard the ignition timing as required to suit the fuel used, but, because of this technology, a better grade of fuel will give better performace.

You mentioned in another thread that your car is a used Japanese import - if it has a GDI engine, I would suggest you use the best grade of petrol you can get.
