As I was driving to work this morning I noticed my iO making a little more noise than usual, and sure enough, as it came up to temperature and I was accelerating up a hill, I had a major muffler blowout. Geez it sounded bad!

Upon getting to work I was pleased to see that it was a pretty clean break from the pipe where it meets the muffler, so it was a pretty simple case of taking it off and re-welding it. Fortunately for me, I had the use of a great workshop today, so the whole process only took around 40 minutes.

Getting the mig into the corner behind the mounting bracket was a little tricky, but I managed to do it. Unfortunately I also managed to blow a small hole in the can which I then had to fill with weld.

It seems to have done the trick for the time being. I'm trying to not spend money on the car right now, so I'm glad it was something which I could fix myself!

Size is not important; it's how you use it that matters!

muffler

That was an instant high flow exhaust! cheeky

That was unlucky, and didn't even give you much warning! but at least the bad luck stopped there....and back on the road!
