hello all, is there an air cleaner/filter in '99 Pajerio IO? Diagrams doesn't show it.... When I turn blower on full power, it does sound like there are some leaves, rocks, and other debris in the system.

Cabin filter

There isn't one, on my car at least. If you remove the glove box, you will find behind it a small trap (about 10cm x 3cm) that you can open with a small flat screwdriver. This does give you a small access to the top of the fan, it might be enough to clean the area.

yep, you are right, I checked

yep, you are right, I checked it myself and there is no cabin filter... it looks like the hole behind the glove box could accomodate a filter, but there is no original part you can fit in. anyway, I cleaned up the blower, it is better now.  However, heater resistor failed (blower doesn't work on level 1 and 2, it just failed on 3 as well), assume that's because of the initial blockage of the blower.

Apparently there is a filter - or a place for one.

Well - ADC42503 does NOT fit.

After driving around for years without a cabin filter, I decided to fit one - the filters in two halves the perfect size to fit into the opening shown - but too long to slide sideways, as shown, and too long for the cap to fit over the opening.

I did a little more digging.

Parts catalogs for the Japanese market vehicles (mine is used JDM) don't show the cabin filter, but I was able to find it in the catalogs for the European market models, and the ADC42503 does cross reference to the OEM part number - so the reason it doesn't fit is most likely some difference in between the two models.

Ok so this is an old post I

Ok so this is an old post I realize, but the key to the Io air filter is that it's two parts, and gets pushed up in the space. No way I could have figured this out.

This is how... I found some polish filters that work perfect.

I'm going to disagree with you

I had a JDM Pajero IO, it most certainly had a place for the filter, exactly as shown in the diagram I posted above, but the filter I bought didn't fit

I literally own a JDM Pajero

I literally own a JDM Pajero iO.

It does NOT have a location for a cabin air filter. Perhaps it depends on year, but I can guarantee that it does not have it.

It absolutely does, mine is a

It absolutely does, mine is a JDM 99 h76w fyi. The filter comes in two pieces and sits in a recessed track above the opening behind the glove box. My Pajero also did not come with a filter, prolly because it smelled so badly of cigarettes and they just removed it before doing their half assed detail job. Here's a random link to it.
