Hi all, first time post.

99 PajeroIO 5 door with 4G93 engine and auto.

Just replaced a radiator recently with a Koro unit (Adrad) sourced from ebay. Did not find the drain bolt for the block (which someone mentioned in another post).

Used a Tectaloy premix green coolant after replacing the radiator.

Now getting a coolant leak dripping from the rear of the auto transmission.

Just wondering what this might possibly be. It is very hard to see without an inspection camera.

Also, does the Pajero IO have welch plugs on the rear end of the block?

As far as I am aware there is no coolant line running anywhere near the auto transmission. I have pulled back the carpet under the heater and that does not look to be wet.

coolant leak

take off the exhaust heat shield and have a look at the back of the block beneath no.4 exhaust port - there is a coolant pipe that comes out of the block there - might be leaking.

if it is - unbolt it, clean the sealant off and re-attach using non-hardening sealant (the dark brown/black brush on resin stuff).

Mine has leaked there, probably find if you overpressured it with the dead radiator it might have forced a small leak out there.

Thanks will have a look. As it happened I have taken that heatshield off to get a closer look. Still not sure as that area looks dry. I have noticed that with the radiator cap off the leak becomes a stream rather than a constant drip.

Looks like I need to replace

Looks like I need to replace 10189S (MD361916) and it is probably a good idea to also replace 10712 (MD343391) and 10711 (MD366059).

Mackay Hose Catalogue show 10712 only CH2985. They also do heater hoses and radiator hoses.

Would not like to have to change 10189S when stranded in some remote location!

I also have a 1983 Mitsubishi Starion JA with a 4G63T engine and they use a metal pipe at the back of the engine which makes a lot more sense.

Ended up taking it to the

Ended up taking it to the mechanic on Monday.  He said that you need to remove the exhaust manifold and coolant line to get the two rubber hoses off at the rear of the engine. They just sourced lenghts of generic hoses to replace the damaged ones.

The car was driven for a long time by the previous owner with a leaking rocker cover gasket and it looks like the oil leak damaged the rubber coolant hoses.  It is very easy for a mechanic/owner to neglect to inspect these hoses as 10189S is very hard to see.

It looks like Mackay do hose 10711 (MD366059).

As I have said before these hoses are not something you would like to change in a remote location = preventative maintenance item.
