ECU question

I am having a hard time locating a replacement ecu for my Pajero and when i do find it, its very expensive and very far away, so my question is, my Pajero iO has a 4G94 SOHC and i see that the Lancer series in the US uses the same engine just a smaller block and locatioon of ports etc and i see that the ECU for the Lancer 2.0 4G94 SOHC costs wayyyyyyy less, can it work with my Pajero iO??
