Hello there!

I am from Costa Rica, Central America and I own a Mitsubishi Junior io 2002...

I currently showing over 330,000 kms in my odometer... and I believe it is time for a engine rebuild ...

Since I live in a small tropical country that imports everything, I have become accustomed in parts all sorts of replacement parts online ...

In America (The U.S.A) , there is a MITSUBISHI LANCER 2002 that has the same engine type or block 4G94- SOHC 16 Valve MPI ... I am not a car mechanic .. so please bear with me ..

if you do a wikipedia search on "4G94" .. you will find many mitsubishi car models that have used this engine type at the beginning of the 2000's...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_4G9_engine

So .. I guess... my question is ... I found this Engine Rebuild Kit on ebay for the U.S. Mitsubishi Lancer 2002 ...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/DNJ-EK159-Engine-Rebuild-Kit-02-07-Mitsubishi-2-...

Do you guys think that I will work? it's got pistons, piston rings, etc etc ...

ALBERTO

Please bear in mind ...

Before buying any rebuild parts for an engine, it needs to be disassembled and measured to determine what is worn, and how worn it is.

A rebuild kit for a 4G94 16V SOHC MPI engine will generally work for any 4G94 16V SOHC MPI engine in that it will generally have most of the required parts - but having said that, you should also be aware that there were many variants of the 4G94 engines and there are differences between them, whilst you will have most of the parts you need, you could find that some of the parts don't fit - and this becomes especially true if you're looking at the differences between a longitudinal mounted engine (such as the Pajero) and a transverse mounted engine (such as the Lancer).

Intake & exhaust manifolds will be different, cooling system plumbing will be different, and any gaskets or seals related to these areas may also be different - the main parts - bearings, piston & rings - should work.
