Exhaust upgrade for 1.8 GDI Engine

Hi All, thought I would share a recent development in my Little Paj io's mod journey LOL

On a recent 4wd trip I damaged the exhaust system on a tree stump....

So decided to tidy up the run a bit and have a play with different muffler arangments.

Plan A

Remove Cat and factory resonator and do a side exit with a hot dog style resonator and a small muffler.

That was aborted due to it being too noisey.... And the muffler sitting too low for my offroad adventures.

Plan B 

Utalising the original large rear muffler I removed the Cat (was already gutted by a previous owner) and the factory resonator. Replaced the flexi section due leakage.

Connected into the factory rear Muffler.....

Noise was a little raspy at certain RPM's but not that bad.....

However the pickup off the line has changed for the better and it pulls much nicer on hills.... Before it would bog down a little and struggle...

Now its imrpoved greatly.....

I know it wont be the cat due blockage but might be something to do with a resitcted factory resonator and possibly the Cat acting as a expansion chamber wit no core in it and messing with the back pressures and flow....

But hence to say its now a much imprived drive !
