long trip what you bring with you?
Hello, 3 of my friends are doing a GS trip (3 motorbikes, if you do not know, GS1200, BMW) for around 3 weeks.
the idea for me is to join them on the way, far away: at this stage I have not decided to go but need advice on what to bring with me in iO, if I go :)
The short plan is Brisbane..... Broken Hill (NSW).... Flinders Range.... Birdsville.... BNE, I guess 1/2, 1/2 bitumen and garvel roads.
Keep in mind I have onle a SWB, 1.6L so I would like to keep the weight at the minimum...
Thanks a lot :)
Tks, I have most of this I
Tks, I have most of this I think,
If I go I will get 5 new tyres for sure.
What is a "good" Jack?
In Regards of the route, I will suggest your comments. At this stage I am not sure at all of the route proposed.
Also, what sort of tent would you get, just a basic pop up type?
Thats another problem I guess, I am not a camping person hahahahhahahahh.... need to get some stuff, BCF will be my best friend! LOL
Hello slowly getting stuff
Hello slowly getting stuff sorted....
removed the back seats, more room in the little SWB iO :)
Got most of the stuff that you guys suggested (spare jack, ponture kit....)... :)
I am still "asking" myself, in or out the tyre??? might strap it on the roof as it is only a spare for the spare LOL
spare for a spare
If you have an air compressor, a puncture kit repair, and depending the quality construction of your new tyres, I wouldn't bother with an extra tyre. This said if you get two bad tyre damage you might hate me for this advice !!! I also carry two tyres lever in my car.
Happy io
doesn't cost...
Yes it does cost, I won't be surprise that your fuel consumption go up by one litre because of the tyre on the roof.
I have removed the plastic trim at the back of mine, you can fit a few thing in the rear guard, wrapped in rag or carpet underlay.
Preparation is part of the adventure :)
Happy io
Yep agree, many thing to
Yep agree, many thing to thing.... as I never done that before and at this stage I will be 5 days on my own, so....
better think twice.
iO has the "profile" of a brick.... not sure if the tyre on the roof will make a bif difference hahahhahahahahha.... But yes I will see, the first 1000kil are bitumen, if my petrol consumption goes up, big time.... inside it goes :)
Not it is time to go shopping for camping gears LOL
Ready Set
Ready Set ...............
last addition to the trip, a GPS tracker: http://www.findmespot.com/en/index.php?cid=100
so familly can follow me and in case of emmergency....
"See you" all in 2 weeks... more or less
Gopro battery
Not sure what he is going to use but I installed USB charging system on my car, they have been working well, the only thing that I might do different is to connect them on a constant feed.

PS are you turning off at Yunta south of broken hill to cut across to copley?
if so great drive to avoid the lower (boring) flinders. good fast dirt roads - magic scenery around the north. funnily enough I last did this trip with bmw R80GS dakar bikes and my super-lada
Mt Chambers Gorge is worth seeing if you can - we used this as an overnight spot even though we had tonnes of time.
