Good day to you all !

I have a question about my 5 door 04 pajero pinin. Everytime there is someone sitting at the back or when the car is loaded with let's say 4 people the rear suspension keeps bottoming out on every bump. It get's very annoying and uncomfortable to drive when the car is carrying some weight. So I am wondering is this a normal thing with this car or is my rear suspension shot ?

Best regards !

How heavy are the four people???

That, by the way, is a serious question - not that I really care - but you need to understand that saying you have four people in the car really doesn't tell us much.  As a general rule I rarely have more than two people in my car (also a five door) but on the occasions when I do, I've never had any issues with the suspension bottoming out - but then maybe my four people weigh less than yours.

Depends...

Well it depends... from 80 to 100 kg. But the thing is even if I am driving around with 3x60 kg girls in my car the same problem occours. But the same problem does not appear in let's say a mk3 golf with 200k miles on the clock. The bottoming out also occours if me and my colleague are seating at the front (both approx 100kg) but it is much more mellow.

I would say that yes it is gone...Depending on budget, I would put new spring and shock but you can start with shock only , most of the time it will be enough, and see how it goes.

Sounds to me like you have a suspension issue.

First, your people are definitely heavier than mine, but that apart, I've never experienced issues with the suspension "bottoming out" on this car, even before replacing what were very tired original factory shocks.

I find the original springs to be quite soft and prone to sagging, but the issue I had with sagging springs was inconsistent camber that caused the vehicle to wander - if, as I suspect, the shocks & struts are the factory fit, I'd start by replacing those, and I'd also suggest considering replacement springs - I'm not certain where you are, but Dobinsons does a slightly stiffer replacement, which, whilst not intended to lift the vehicle will correct sag related issues.

Before doing any suspension work (or having it done), read through the lift & strut data threads, there are two different types of strut that were used, and it is critical to ride comfort (possibly safety) that you use a strut/spring combination that is compatible with one another.
