No Spark in 4G18 - How to test crank angle sensor

Hi all,

My '99 Pajero IO (1.6L 4G18 engine) has no spark to all 4 cylinders.

Does anyone know how how to check engine crank sensor without removing it? Any other ideas as to what can cause this?

Also, does anyone know where to find the ECU within the car?

I'm inclined to ask which ECU

I'm inclined to ask which ECU (there are probably 20+ Electronic Control Units - including one called the front ECU which should be alongside the underhood fuse panel - but you're probably looking for the Engine Control Unit - try up behind the dash on the right hand side, behind the underdash fuse panel.

I would start by checking for power to the coil packs.
