Hi,

Can anyone kindly give me a brief rundown on what needs to be done when replacing a PCV valve on a 1.8 litre engine?

I have a new PCV valve and a PCV valve grommet on the way.

Many thanks,

Paolo

Which of the 1.8 engines?

There are two 1.8 engines used in the iO - the 1.8 MPI & the 1.8 GDI.

On the GDI you remove the engine cover and you should be able to reach the PCV valve at the rear of the valve cover with no further disassembly - pull the hose off, pop the valve out, put the new one in, refit the hose and then replace the cover.

Hi Fordem,

Thanks for the reply.

Her iO has the 4G93 engine.

engine

Hello Paolo5,

I believe that you are from Australia, only a few rare GDI io are here, 99% sure that you have the MPI engine.

If I have the correct part in mind for the PCV valve, it is located next to the oil filler cap and it is just a pull out job (by hand), shouldn't be more than a 5 min work, grommet included.

It actually took less than that, Claude! Once the parts arrived and I had a look at them, it all became obvious.

Thanks again,

Paolo
