I am having serious engine vibrations when the engine is idling in N, also when i shift into D, however once i accelerate they cease. Could there be a problem with my stop lamp switch? i've opened the bonnet while the engine is idling in P, had a look around and i've noticed some hardened green fluid near the throttle body hose clamp. I travel 45km to and from to work everyday and the vibrations have been a really problem when i stop at traffic lights or when the vehicle is just idling.

Furthermore, after travelling to and from work in the evenings i've noticed, after turning the engine off, that the bonnet is hot and heat is comming out from the front grill/ radiator. Also noticed sweeking/screeching in the engine when doing sharp turning, therefore, have decided to change alternator and timing belt.

Please need help on the engine vibrations and some essential service instructions. I cannot download the service manual, due to internet downloading restrictions at work.

Please fellow members, your kind assistance will be much appreciated!!

Are you replacing these parts based on some one else's advice?

What's the connection between the sharp turns and replacing the alternator & timing belts?  There is a possibility that the noise is coming from the serpentine belt that drives the power steering pump but that is the one you're not changing.

Regarding the vibration - what is the idle rpm?

Also - what engine do you have in there 1.8 or 2.0, MPI or GDI?

Fordem:  Is this the correct

Fordem:  Is this the correct P/n for the serpentine/multi-rib belt - 5PK 1345, for the above engine?

Replaced Alternator & Power

Replaced Alternator & Power Steering belts, 4PK 775 & 5PK 1340,over the weekend, however still squeaking is continuing when doing full sharp left and right turns.

Can anyone advise as to what might be the problem?

My engine vibrations are stil happening at idling approx. 500 rpm, need advise! Mounts? AT Fluid Replacement?

vibration

Regarding the vibration, your idle at 500rpm for an auto seems low to me.

For the noise, it still could be the belt, even new. If you haven't put enough tension, they will make some noise. Does the noise you have is at any rpm or just when idling. If at idling, I would try to tight the belt...no cost and easy to do....don't go too tight as it will create more pb in the long run. Noise when turning could be the power steering pump playing up too, check oil level, put a screw driver as close as you can to the bearing (close to the belt) and put one ear on the handle, get someone to turn the wheel to get the noise. The screw driver will transfer the noise and it can be very good to find noises. Again, easy to do and no cost.

Idle should probably be higher

On the 1.8 GDI, idle is 650, I would guess the 2.0 is about the same - as far as the noise on full lock goes - are you holding the wheel "against the stops" - if you are ease off the pressure and see if the noise stops - if it does the problem could be belt slip or possibly low power steering fluid - a squeal is more likely to be belt slip, low fluid tends to cause a moan/groan.

I have an auto that used to do the exact same thing! Constant vibration at idle in D and a little quiter in N.

Replaed transfer case mounts + engine mounts and it was quiet and did not make 1 vibration!! I believe (from memory) on average most guys mounts on here have been going around the 140-180km mark pending driver/off road work.

BE AWARE - If you have upgraded headers you will have very little room to get the bolts of the manifold side engine mount, the rubber in all my mounts was completely broken but they do have metal safe guard stops for when the rubber goes.

When I changed the AT fluid I didn't get any improved/reduction in vibration (have basically none since mounts anyway) but it did shift, hold power and feel 110% better! was close to 60km between AT fluid change on mine at that stage, now I won't leave it past 30-40km... Even if it won't fix your vibrations do it! I have my money on the engine & transfer mounts!

Best of luck!
