Hi,

is there a (relatively) cheap&easy way to shorten the already short 5.111 diffs of an MPI with automatic transmission even further?

Which is to say, an existing shorter gearing from another car, probably best one with the with the MR331578 and MB290264 diffs, which is not too ancient and has at some point been on sale in Europe, preferably Germany ;-)

(since Pinin on the rocks insists that the partsbase catgalog is probably in error and the 02.2004 and later autos doe NOT have Diffs with a 4.636 gearing... http://www.partsbase.org/mitsubishi/pajero-pinin-montero-io-eur-pf-eu-19... because then I could just as well get an M/T oder an older auto.)

the shortest you can get

the shortest you can get (without changing axles) is 5.285. That is only 3% shorter than 5.111 which is too low to even bother and spend money... and it also requires to change not only diffs but the whole front system. :)
