It is as it sounds, slow/delayed front wheel engagement. Select front wheels (AWD or 4wd) then it can flash for ages before either stopping at lights or turning a corner generally achieves a lock. Same for the unlock.

Just wondering if replacing fluid or some sort of lube in and around the vaccuum area where the front free wheel clutch is helps and what to replace it with??

Thanks in advance.

Ummm - do you have an owner's manual?

If not, there's an Australian version floating around the net that you can probably download - it has a section that specifically deals with this issue - suggesting that it is, to some extent, expected - if the splines don't line up or there is too much load on the axle, it won't engage or disengage until the conditions allow it.

To answer your question - the free wheel mechanism has it's own "space", separate from the front differential, with it's own lubricant, and it takes a 75w90 gear oil.
