Back from our little iO trip yesterday. Down we go.... nothing special til we stop and start again: the car does sound like in tractor in first/second...

The car does run 100% well, just that rattling noise as soon as you press the accelerator :(

As a first look, it is normal that I get exhaust gaz going out thougt this "strange" connector? (I would not think so)

exhaust noise

I think that it is call an exhaust flex mainly to stop some vibration and you are right it is not normal, you will need a new one.

Put something on that surface rust on your chassis rail before it get bad !!!

.

Any good exhaust shop should be able to replace this, it shouldn't cost you too much (under $200??? not sure here really).

Plenty of good rust proofing these day, I have used "cold Gal, rust guard from White Knight" to protect the cut that I have done to fit the snorkel, it worked well. Another that I have been using for a long time (trailer and other) is "killrust from Wattyls" with very very long lasting good result. A bit of sanding, clean with turps, 2 coats, (20 min work)  then monitor.

If you get lots of gravel impact a coat of underbody tar or similar could help.

Happy io

Fish oil

Get yourself a couple of cans of deodourised fish oil and spray liberally into all the drainage holes in the chassis, doors, and well, everywhere under the car!

I do this about once a year with mine.

Although it's deodourised, it still stinks a bit for a few days/weeks after, but worth it imo.

Size is not important; it's how you use it that matters!
