Your experience with the 1.8 GDI

I have my eye on purchasing at 1999 Pajero Io 3dr 5sp with the 1.8 GDI engine (non-turbo). This Io has 30,000 original kms on it.

 

My light research reveals that the GDI engine has the same issues with any other such direct-injection engines made in its era. Has anyone put say, 100K on their 1.8 GDI Io without the stalling/idle issues?
