G'day from Melbourne
Hi eyeryone,
I joined this forum a month or two ago and thought I should post an introduction and say hi.
My name is Mark and I'm from Melbourne Aus, earlier this year I bought a Pajero io to replace my old
hilux. A change of jobs meant I was travelling about 300-400kms a week and the Hilux quickly became
impractical (and uncomfortable) to be doing so much driving in.
So I started looking for something small, 4cyl and preferrably 4x4, I didn't initially set out to buy an io,
it just kind of fit the bill for what I was looking for, and after looking at a couple of them I bought a
1999 white over silver 4door 1.8 manual, and so far it's been a great car!
Well I quickly found this forum and have been stuck here ever since! It's already been a great help actually,
because this is my 1st io, and I didn't really do any "market research" so to speak, the forum has been
very helpfull in identifing any potential gremlins and other problems to look out for and ways to fix them.
So far maintenance and repairs have been timing belt and water pump, a/c pulley removal and replace bearing,
fix heater/a/c vent controls (thanks to the thread) and about to track down an annoying suspension knock that
seems to be coming from the front left strut, but, after reading another thread on here, could possibly be a
swaybar link. Another future repair will be looking into why I have no centre diff light (orange) lighting up on the dash
when 4wdllc is engaged. I'm not too concerned about the lack of light at this stage, 4wd operation seems normal,
and I think I read in a post (possibly by Fordem?) that the centre diff lock engagment is all mechanical and the light is just
an indicator. Can someone tell me is this correct?
All in all I am pretty stoked with the little Pajero, while it is first and foremost a daily driver and wont ever see modifications
like some on here, I'm already thinking about the small 30-40mm lift that is available, will wait and see if that front end knock
is strut related...
Looking foward to sharing future repairs and improvements with all you guys(and girls!)
Cheers,
Mark.
