Well not a choke control as we know it.  After all a choke control changes the mixture as well as adding some pull on the throttle cable to increase idle revs a little.  The part of that I am interested in is the faster idle bit.  I have a similar sort of control on my diesel whereby it pulls on the throttle cable to increase revs.  I will name this and idle up control. IUC for short.  I have thought of attaching an actual choke cable to the actual throttle pedal in the cab to mimic putting the foot on the pedal.  When the engine is warmed up then the IUC can be pushed in.  If I cannot get the idle problem sorted with a new TPS or IS then this is what I am going to do.  Any comments??

Do it right, use Hammerite.

Hand Throttle

Someone has done it - I think they called it a hand throttle, sorry, I don't have time to find the thread atm, but you might be able to search it on the forum.

Size is not important; it's how you use it that matters!

Oooh thanks, just spent 30mins searching in vain but did find this idle business was common in the day and something I may have done to cause it was remove the battery.  I removed the battery to get at the crossmember rot.  Don't think that explains why weeks later it decides to stal in traffic and then put me on this stupid journey.

Sort of what I want (but for a different reason of course)

Now then, back on track I would love to fit this but look at the price!!!  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/universal-hand-throttle-cable-assy-/171355714156?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item27e598b26c

This is a bit like the hand throttle on my big boy Pajero.   http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HAND-THROTTLE-IDLE-CONTROL-MITSUBISHI-PAJERO-SHOGUN-/370438883845?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&fits=Model%3APajero%2FShogun&hash=item563fe0ca05

Then again I can use one of these.  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/choke-cold-start-cable-/391035065658?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5b0b81953a  It only needs to be about 12" long with a hook on the end ot a loop if it s stranded.

I only need the idle speed lifting for about 2 mins first thing from cold.  In fact in the warmer weather the engine is ALMOST behaving itself.
