Can somebody be kind enough to tell me what this clicking noise is please from my engine.... Easy for most
Come on buddy - use your eyes ...
If you're want to work on your own vehicle, you do need to have certain degree of mechanical aptitude, and a basic idea of what is what - if you look at those belts it's not hard to figure out that you have to move the alternator to adjust the tension on one belt, and the idler pulley for the other - the only difference betwee this and the average car is that Mitsubishi has a bolt that you turn to move the alternator (and/or idler pulley) after reeasngthe bolts/nuts that secure them.
I understand what you are
I understand what you are saying totally, i can rebuild 2 stroke engines, however not knowing things does not hurt to ask, however i am using the car as a learning curve.
Nobody jumps in the deep end without prior understanding. Google keywords get you everywhere. I would of expected you to at least named the design of main belt tensioner. Without no service manual to hand, it makes life that bit harder.
The forum is for help and support, not for putting down members. It was not needed.

Hi Mark
Hi mark,
to tension the alternator you adjust the alternator top mount
to tension the power-steering / AC belt you adjust the central idler via the bolt on the side
re: belt tension - you want just enough tension to stop belt from slipping - normally you can twist the belt by hand approx 45deg in the middle when tightened
Thanks guys for your
Thanks guys for your help,
The belt was a serpentine belt whereby it needed replacing due to having a 1 inch long section of the v missing along the length of the belt. This was the cause of the clicking noise.
The tensioner was what I was stuck on, I released it perfectly. I replaced both the alternator belt and the serpentine, I made sure that both belts had half inch play *worked out 45 degree* movement.
I really am thankful for your help guys :)
Thanks again.
Mark
Next question, how do i
Next question, how do i remove tension on the drive belt please.
Thanks
