sorry i see what you mean now

sorry i see what you mean now i did a google search on them. i havent ever tried to built one but i cant imagine it would be too hard.
im thinking of building my own awning for my car. and the way im thinking of doing it would probly apply to this aswell. only smaller.
my theory is to buy a length of pvc pipe and cut a slit in it.. cap it off at both ends. then, with a steel rod, drill throught both caps and thread the rod to go along the middle of the pipe and through both ends of the cap. with a tarp that wraps around the rod on the inside of the pipe. only problem is it will be fully manually wound in and out. to wind it out you would just pull it out til it is fully extended. to wind it in you would have to reel it in...
or an even simpler way would be to just use the rod and wrap your material around that. then cap it on either end so it doesnt fall off.
next the only issue is where to fix it on the onterior. i'll leave that up to you.
i can see this concept working for a cargo cover quite easily. all painted up i could look pretty nice. you could even go to spotlight or bunnings to get some suede fabric, feux-leather or marine carpet instead of tarp lol.

just thinking.for the front

just thinking.
for the front part that you pull out you could fix a small wheel on either end and fix a pair of tracks along the rear window ledge...
just a thought. i dont know how keen you would be to drill into your interior panels. i already have so i have no issue with doing it. i dont intend to sell my iO...

Look at the plastic panels to the sides of the cargo area.

My iO came with fittings to take a cargo area cover moulded into the cargo area side panels - I can get you pictures in the morning.

I was thinking of using

I was thinking of using wooden pegs in the mounting holes above the cargo cover hooks. Then make something that goes on top of them.

Hey Daniel can you send me

Hey Daniel can you send me instructions on how to build one like what you've got? I have a 5 door though so I can measure to suit.
