2002 ZR (NOT)

2002 on ebay for $8400 or offer
They have it advertised as a ZR, clearly NOT a ZR due to no passenger airbag in the pictures (ortho they say it has them) as well as the other bits, But might be a good buy still?
They also think its a 1.6.But it would be a 2ltr.

Sounds a bit dodgy, but it is pretty cheap. Panda might be able to get it on the road for less than 5K..?

Normally have your hand on

Normally have your hand on the gear stick whenever it's in first, right? Although with the not-so-low range I do a fair amount of off roading in first. I'm not very good mechanically so I can't say what the problem may be. How many k's were on it?

There are multiple possible causes

I'm not familiar with the manual transmission on the iO - but generally jumping out of a gear is a symptom with multiple possible causes.

Worn bearings - this will generally be accompanied by some degree of noise.

Worn or bent shifter forks

Worn engagement hub.

On some vehicles defective engine/transmission mounts can cause enough movement for the shift lever to strike the transmission tunnel hard enough that it jumps out of gear (especially moving off from a stop).

Since most of these repairs will involve a transmission tear down - I would not buying a vehicle with this problem unless the price was very attractive.

By the way - I almost never have my hand on the shift lever when I'm not actually shifting - it's a bad habit, and it's possibly the primary cause of worn shifter forks.

There have been a few cases where iOs have been written off with seemingly minor rear end damage - this is a creative solution!
Needs bigger tyres to suit the intended purpose though!

What did you buy? be perfect

What did you buy?

be perfect for someone like me wanting to start a project, rebuild the motor with a turbo, give the entire car a major service, jack it up with some big tyres and still end up with something cheaper than a lot sell for!

What did I buy

http://www.pajerio.com/forum/wtb-drivers-front-fender-2002   post 7, not the best place, but it is there.

The car is for sale for $4500 NEGOTIABLE. It is now registered (3 month), passed ACT RWC, new rear main seal, and bearing (clutch is about 70% good), new radiator, new clutch slave cylinder, I got the bonnet and roof re-spray (he didn't do a great job, but it is acceptable, and much better than the faded varnish) and a few minor repair. Rear brakes are about 50% good, and the front had the disc and pads replaced a short time ago. I fitted a second hand pioneer stereo system, I still have to replace the reverse switch...haven't find one yet ! (slightly leaking)

The long range fuel tank and the side step have been removed, but may come with the car. I left the tow bar.

The car is clean, drive and start very well, and the only thing that make you think that it does nearly have 300000kms is the speedo!

I don't think that anyone would be interested from here, as we all got an io already !

pajero io for sale on ebay

I have seen that car for sale before, I called the owner...made an offer, he got offended and insulted me as a result...now the starting price is way lower than my original offer !!!!

The suspension needs redoing...no droop left. It is the first time that I heard about a broken rear spring on these...they may have drive it fully loaded and a bit hard !!!???

Bugger, I wanted that car to do up...the bash plate looks different....

That's not a TJM or an ECB bull bar... Looks like it improves the approach angle a bit too.

any idea how much a TJM, ECB bull bar would cost, do they make them for an io?

Would this bullbar fit an 02' 5 door?

TJM are no longer available, but IMO are probably the most popular seen on 2nd hand market (usually around $500).

ECB were available until recently - could probably call them or Dolan - this was the price I was quoted around 2 years ago: "Dolan have said they can make one for me (2-3 week turnaround) for $1560 powdercoated Al, or $1765 polished Al. Check it out here: http://www.dolan.com.au/index.php/Pajero-IO/03/99-12/02-Bull-Bar/flypage...

That link now leads to an error page, so I guess they don't make them anymore.

None of these bars are designed to take a winch :(

They should fit a later model, however there will be a blank spot between the top of the bar and the bottom of the grille - if you look at pics you will see a 1" metal strip on the older iO's which is not on the newer ones as the stock bumper fills this spot. The brazillian bull bars use a small bit of sheet metal to fill the gap.

yeah thats the down side!,

yeah thats the down side!, with Airbags im not sure it can be done with less than a 100K or so? Gotta smash them on cars?

I wander if we just put them overtop of the original bar and not replace it. we could get away with it? :)

Just transporting it on the front rather than on roof racks wink

insurance

While air bag will be an insurance problem, the same apply to bigger tyres....

Regarding the air bag, I would disconnect it...nothing worse than an air bag deploying too early, or too late...

I haven't tried it, but ...

Don't waste your money or time.

1)  It only has three wires, one of which is probably ground - that limits what it can do - I would guess it connects to the CTS (coolant temperature sensor), fooling the ECU into thinking the engine was cold, possibly putting it into open loop where it will run rich.

2)  Any time you see a performance "chip" with a range of applications as wide as that, it's a sure sign it's a hoax - .

Yeah too good to be true

I googled it and read a few things which said the same - bypassing sensors and such. I'm not interested in using one, but I thought is see if anyone had tried it.

What do you think of this one, I am interested ....but I think that it is too much as there isn't any straight panel left....and I have to add the pick up cost (car tailer rental, fuel...)

It would be good to have a good stock of parts, but around $2000 and the work to dismantle it.....hum....

I made an offer, but no reply yet....

That is my feeling too, I think that it is more than fair. To be honest, if my car end up like this, I would be very happy to get $1000 for it (less diff lock :)).

Maybe he likes the car too much to let it go....!!
