extended rear shocks from another model
Rear shock extension
I have made this, to try, they have been on the car for nearly 2 weeks and seems ok. This is just a try. They cannot be fitted on every car as while it does extend the length of the shock (45 mm), the full compression need to be stop by something else than the shock ( bump stop or air bag here).
I don't think this is a very good system as a longer shock would be better.....just playing around:)

no...
No, these don't give any more lift. The advantage is because you get more down travel to the wheel. If you jack the car on the chassis (not the diff) the wheel will drop further down (more articulation)
Check this thread http://pajerio.com/forum/io-video If you check post 3, the picture presentation of the video, you can see that the right rear wheel have standard wheel down travel. If you check the picture presentation of the video in post 9 you can see the left rear wheel with a lot more down travel. The advantage is that the wheels will stay more on the ground....more grip....and more stable too.
The travel of the shock absorber need to suit your suspension. If the shock is too long, the spring can drop out of his place (when the wheel goes lower, down travel ). If the shock is too short, in full compression, the shock will stop the up travel (instead of the bump stop) and will get damaged.
The spring give the level of the car, the shock absorber is mainly to stop the oscillations of the spring (car bouncing when worn out)
I hope this help...

Are you telling me if these work they could give even more of a lift!?
Simmo if you want to lift the rear have a look in my build thread on about page three. I have a 3-4" lift, cant remember which now. Using Dobinson springs, spring spacers from the front of a 80 series cruiser, shocks from a hilux and an adjustable panhard rod from a commodore to Centre the rear axle. Works really well and all the parts were pretty damn cheap.

I used hilux shocks in my rear. I beleive they were 2" lift ones for a hilux.
