so, have always had a noise from the passengers side on hard cornering with bumps - has been getting worse lately, tyres wantering and freeplay in steering.

did the "wheel wobble" method and found that all is good except my inner tierod ball joint (rack end) on passengers side has near on 10mm movement!!

genuine mitsubishi from the parts department = $252 and 8 week wait
type MR448255 into Ebay = $46.18 delivered from california

Job Done!

From california?!?

That's nice to know - I think mine have some play, and I have a set in a watch list on ebay.uk  - it would be cheaper & easier to get them from the US, but it's unusual to find iO parts in the US, because the car was never sold there.

Its a mistubishi

Ill bet the part also fits another mistubishi. If from America it could be the Eclipse.. just guessing though so don't hold me to it!

Job well done bob!

01 ZR LWB, 2 sets of kumho KL71s on rims, custom one off belly plate, lukey sports exhaust and a right foot to suit!

Nah - there HAS to be a US vehicle that fits ...

I just checked the dealer database USD$65.15 MSRP, discounted to $49.75 and that'll be the Mitsubishi OE part not a third party - the only way the dealers will have it available is if they can sell it.

Bob - this is one I wouldn't question.

I can't explain it, I can't find another vehicle that uses it (I haven't tried very hard), I'm just happy to know it's available - as far as I can tell, the Pajero (or Montero) iO was never sold in the US, nor were any 4G93 GDI engined vehicles - I keep searching, hoping I'll find one, but so far, no luck.

What I've been doing for awhile is looking up the part number for the iO parts, and then feeding that into the US dealer database to see what comes back, and then buying what I need - cam seals for a Lancer, crank seals for a Dimante, valve seals for a Mirage - I don't care what car they say it fits, as long as the part numbers match I'm happy.

I just picked up cam seals - the guy at AutoZone wanted $15 a piece, and he would have had to special order them - I told him that was outrageous, and bought them from RockAuto $13+ change for the pair, including shipping, and I had them the next day.
