I bought the iO almost two weeks ago.  All I did was drive it home.  I recently found oil in the R/O/S drum.  It looks like there is also a leak at the pinion in the diff.  There is also a slight leak at the crank seal.  I contacted the garage I got it from and they want me to bring it back and then pay half the cost of the work.  It has a 3 month warranty but I cannot find anything about 50/50 on the repairs.  The seal must have been leaking for months and to get it through the MoT it seems, and I am guessing here,  they took off the drum and cleaned the shoes enough for it to pass the test.

Is it fair I have to pay half for it to be fixed?

Do it right, use Hammerite.

Why simpify when it is simpler to complicate.

fair

They could have told you 3 thing

These problem happen after we sold you the car, or sorry we will fix it free of charge or ok, how about 50/50.

Their reply could have been worse, but you need to check the legal side of this.

Brake shoes that have been contaminated with oil...should be replaced, not cleaned. The oil go deep into the shoes, the cleaning only reach a very limited thickness of the shoes.

Again find out what the law say, if you are in your right to not pay for the repair, let them know...nicely !!

Happy io
