So a couple of weeks ago I picked this 2003 PInin with just 35k on the clock for £400 !

I spend many weekend in fields and atop hills in Scotland working with horses, so this has to be better than my lowered Volvo lol.

I knew that it needed an exhaust and a clean up of some rust on the arches but other than that it's super clean.

So i've put a new stock Exhaust on, changed a few bulbs, fixed the flap on the little storage box in the dash, took a dent out, and changed the Interior mirror which was peeling for some reason.

Future plans are:

Move the heater controls to allow for a DD headunit, and sound proof for some new speakers.

Not sure about a lift but I would like bigger, chunkier tyres ... advice welcome.

I'd love a cargo cage for the roof but I'm struggling a bit to source one.

Maybe some extra lighting ( more flood than spot) and some front fogs.

Clean up the surface rust and maybe add some arch extensions for no real reason, lol

Look forward to picking your collective brains.

Welcome Kris.

Welcome to the forum.

Before getting into any discussion on tyres please tale a look at the "strut data" thread in the suspension section of the forum - in there you'll learn about the different front struts which may be fitted to your car, and how to determine which ones you have fitted - this will determine what size tires can be fitted without a lift.

I'm not certain what your options for a roof "cargo cage" are in Scotland, but, I sourced mine from Amazon in the US, shipping might be a bit much, but you could try Amazon UK, I see some on there that are elegible for free delivery in the UK.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Universal-Basket-Vault-Cargo-Management/dp/B0716JT6QG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1519419177&sr=8-1&keywords=cargo+basket&tag=pda0e-21

This one is reasonably priced and similar in construction to the one I have, and will require roof cross bars to be fitted, these are also available from Amazon.

Personally I would never put "flood" lighting on a car, but your needs might be different to mine - I'm using Hella Comet 500 halogen driving lights - Hella is one of the big names in lighting and has making this model for almost 30 years, old school, but a good light at a reasonable price - these are driving lights (not pencil spots) so they have a reasonable reach and a reasonable spread.  Mine are mounted to the top of the front bumper just in front of the grille - under the plastic skin of front bumper is a metal reinforcement predrilled on the top surface for auxiliary lighting - you just need to disassemble, drill (or cut) holes in the plastic in the appropriate locations and then install and wire your lights.

Cheers Fordem

Thank you very much for the welcome, I'll be sure to look into the rather confusing area of strut dimensions.

I followed your link, cheers for looking them up.  I'll be looking into something a little larger and more custom I think.  Maybe scrap the stock rails first.

Excellent tip about the bumper support, I might just make use of that feature.

Anything more I do, I'll add pics for info purposes.

Cheers

Kris
