High people I need to find out if the CG model lancer block bolts straight up to our gearbox and everything else, if it is a straight swap over. I can get a 2006 4G94 Lancer engine for $350 here in Brisbane with only 98,000klms on it.

I should i rebuild my 2.0ltr that I have bought ????

Any help would be great thanks.

lancer motors

OOOOKKKKK

the "es" lancer is apparently identical to our later 2L io engines. except for the bolt on ancilary items, and the cylinder head is reversed and has had castings drilled out etc.

you will likely need to repair your head or use the lancer head as a base to build it into an io head.

the engine mount holes may be untapped in the block

great wall engines are a 4G6X series from memory - not the 4G9X series - i could be wrong.

head

sorry for the brevity etc.

most miti heads start as a blank casting with the option of machining them for running one way or 180 deg in reverse (the v6 L and R heads are identical except the cam shaft hole is plugged in the end not used)
As a result most FWD 4G9X series heads are bolted onto the blocks backwards compared to an io head. differences in inlet and exhaust port shape etc are post-machined etc
you could punch out the rear welch plug etc and machine in a seal lip and reverse it or just overhaul an io head,

I think you are right about

I think you are right about the Great Wall engine so lets forget about that one.

So i would be better of to reduild my bottom end rather than get the Lancer engine with only 98,000 on it for $350 and muck around fitting my head onto it ???

It will cost about $150 more to rebuild mine instead buying the lancer engine but if that's what I have to do then well i have too.

My head is fine it's just the block I need.

if your head is fine, just

if your head is fine, just bolt it onto the lancer block

if you eyeball a lancer some have the mounts for io engine mounts tapped and some do not

It's done 199,000klms and is

It's done 199,000klms and is blowing smoke when revs are up and also when driving under load, it isn't valve stem seals as it does not blow any smoke when starting in the morning. I need to do a compression test yet but definitely rings are shot and as i said the valve stems seals are fine.

Took it down to the mechanic down the road and he also confirmed this also but also suggested that I do a compression test before I start pulling the motor down.

The engine I am looking at is a 2006 Lancer with only 98,000klms on it.

Also can't be head gasket as the motor still runs good with no overheating and when I bought it I had to drive it 530klms back home and apart from blowing smoke it drive good and had no other problems with it.

It might be better to service the head, I mean if it does have 199000kms, a service on it could save you some time and money later on.

Yeh Claude was going to get a

Yeh Claude was going to get a rebuild kit for the head and do the valves: reseat them and valve stem seals with all new gaskets and i might keep the bottom end just incase I might need it later and buy the Lancer engine and do the head swap on it.

So if the Lancer bottom end fits I might as well save a few bucks $$$ and buy it and transfer everything over to it.

While I have the manifolds off I might even port and polish the intake and maybe even do a little work on the throttle body.

Madmax all depends on how the

Madmax all depends on how the car has been looked after, my other iO is a 1.8 and has 286,000 on the clock and still going strong and doesn't burn or leak any oil because in the last 4yrs that I have owned it I have looked after it and made sure it's been serviced.

I reckon I could do a big trip in it and have no problems.

I am worry too when I go for a long trip....did I take everything, did I checked the car properly, I am going to have enough fuel, did I miss something ....the list goes on .... I think that being worry is part of any adventure, what you do about it is what matter the most....prepare yourself, maybe go on a shorter week end trip before, follow some mechanical course, save a bit more money for possible repairs/towing.....but staying home and do nothing, while easier it is not the best solution.

Happy io

Hello guys,  yep I see what

Hello guys,

yep I see what you mean, so Friday was been an iO day: change of oil, filter, plugs... look at the belts, brake pads, you name it....

I am gettimg few things in at the moment: repair kit for tyres, spare jack, ...

"Sh'll be right"

Also I removed the back seats, much more room in the back, so no more need I think for roof stuff .

Hard not to forget this or that.... time will tell when I am on the road.

I live my life a 1/4 mile at the time
