I was looking at this bar http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Mitsubishi-Pajero-iO-2001-Winch-Bar-/121032872861?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c2e1f139d

His original auction started at $80 and he removed it to put it at $350 !!!! That winch cost $180 http://www.oo.com.au/4000lbs-Wireless-Electric-Winc_P97561.cfm cheaper on ebay.

This is what he wrote about the making of the bar

So it was designed and made by myself an a friend but never tested as I really dont have a lot of spare time or money to get out and about at the moment.

I like the idea but this is easy to do and it is now too expensive. Bugger!!

.

Thats a pretty simple design, but I can imagine in my head how or where it would fit.

Also I would want more then a 4000lbs winch.

I saw that one too. It looks

I saw that one too. It looks to me to be relying on two small welds for all of its strength. It would be good to ask him how he was going to mount it though.

Size is not important; it's how you use it that matters!

winch bar

There are a couple of holes on the existing front bar, his bar probably match these.

I exchanged a few email with him,  then the next day from auction $80 ...gone to $350....not nice...he may have thought that I was interested, and get me to pay a bit more.....I guess why not !!!

mehhh - NAH

Even if I were in Australia, and shipping was not an issue - he can keep that.  It's a 4000 lb ATV winch bolted to a piece of 4"x4" RHS steel - no fair leads, no controls, and probably no engineering design.

Rule of thumb is a minimum of 1.5 times the weight of the vehicle, so you're looling for around a 6000 lb winch for 3800 or so lbs of iO and even though I'm no welder/fabricator, I figure I can come up with a better looking winch bar that will be strong enough to handle a 6000 lb pull.

Agree

Fully agree, this said he does have all the bits and pieces to use the winch, so he told me when it was on auction for $80. And you are right, he doesn't have any engineering approval or involvement into his bar.

Bar

Looks like it would bolt on underneath the front bar?

01 ZR LWB, 2 sets of kumho KL71s on rims, custom one off belly plate, lukey sports exhaust and a right foot to suit!
