Just bought two rear shocks - standard KYB Excel-G type from "Brandsonline" on ebay kyb part 343408.

Excel-G are the OME replacement shocks, suited for standard applications i.e. cars etc

The bulk of the driving I do is high-speed highway miles and a stiff offroad shock would be too rough for me, If i did a lot of rough dirt driving i might think about a stiffer shock however the SWB is pretty light so a soft damper will always work better.

$160 delivered.

17mm socket and breaker bar to undo bolts (lower) and 17mm spanner for nuts (upper) and popped the old ones out - rooted!

15mins total time to remove/install

Note: bottoms the nut facing the wheel is welded in place - don't try and undo it (like I did) but the bolts are likely stiff - i had to use a 2' breaker bar and a piece of pipe to loosen bolts - nuts were less tight but still hard. Tightened accuratly using "three white knuckles" torque measurement.

best $160 i've spent in a long time

new rear shock

This will make a big difference in the way your car was acting before, like the "bouncing" in long turn when hitting an uneven surface. By experience, lots of people underestimate the action of new shock. Fully agree with not wanting stiffer shock....

yes and no

definitly the car rolls less, but the twitching is still there, will change the front and see how i go but when the car was semi-new it still did it.

I'm looking at getting my standard coils re-set 40mm longer, same stiffness but higher ride height.

spring

I fitted the "Astina" spring and find them a bit firmer but not as firm as the "kingspring" and should help for your problem. For the price, give them a go, you could still get them reset if needed (they don't give 40 mm lift) or reset your original while having these on the car if you don't like them.

In principal, the more you lift the car, the firmer the spring need to be, or your car will loose stability (close to flying sometime!) That is why I mentioned the "astina" spring as well.

spring side

hum....measure your actual height..then the lower side get the longer astina spring....

If both actual height are the same, give it a try, or swap one spring at the wrecker, or get another set. I found someone who had lots of spare and got 4 springs for $ 50, I swapped a couple of time to get it perfect.

What is the difference in height?

I think the manual has the slightly longer springs on the driver side.
I remember someone posting a pic of a drag car doing a wheelie on a massive angle because of the torque of the drive shaft causing the driver side suspension to compress excessively. But I can't remember what thread it is in.

My guess - 10mm difference would be the limit. But I don't know much, only what I've read on here.

Size is not important; it's how you use it that matters!

Im planning to run some

Im planning to run some rancho shocks on the rear of mine for the damping adjustability via a super east to access and adjust dial. Hopefully come up with the best on and off road settings.

The dance is spring rate frequency interaction related, only different spring rates can change that, shocks cant change the frequency but can sure help reduce the dance. you could calculate a good spring rate combination for the speed you most want the dance eliminated. im guessing its not enough to bother you tho?
