Mods/Add-ons required for a 1.6 3drs Montero iO - Egypt

Hello Dear Memebrs and Pinin Lovers,

I am Shady Sabry from Egypt and this is my first post here. I am a memeber now for a little over one year and I have been surfing the posts for a while trying to track few topics aiming at catching a start point for few mods that I need to carry out for my beloved Montero iO (this is the name here in Egypt). I went through a lot of data yet I am not sure if I really tapped into what I wanted.

So to make it easier on myself, I decided to post this request here, and then to start receiving the guru's recommendations on how and where exactly to start.

So, the list of mods/addition I need are:

  1. Doing a lift to my car so I can increase its ground clearence. We do not have bushes and dirt here in Egypt, but we have extensive deserts of different terains, from sand stretches to mountanious terians. Increasing me ground clearence would help me cross over a lot of objects that I am hesitant to do today (ex: train rails and rocky terains). It would be great if the recommended parts used are stock shocks and springs from other manufacturers that are used and tested, rather than after market spare parts, due to the scarcity of spare parts and consequently after market parts for my beloved baby.
  2. Tailoring a bash plate to protect my car underneath. Whatever is avail be of good designs, including those for the transfer case if available.
  3. A custom tow bar, because I can not find any here in Egypt. I thought of buying another Japanese/America car tow bar and modifying it to my dimensions. If someone has a ready design with dimensions, it would be fantastic.
  4. A metal front bumper that it equipped with the original fog lights, with or without a winch. Pretty few good and sexy designs I see are used by the members. I envy Brazilians for having the TR4 production lines and after market parts ;)
  5. Possible engine swap for a more powerful engine that comes from Mitsubishi and if possible to use my current gearbox and transfer case (what about ECU?). A 2.4 MIVEC would be awesome with 165Hp instead of the current 102Hp.
  6. Tailored drawer system.
  7. I was thinking of using my interior space as a flat sleeping bed while camping, rather than sleeping in a tent. This might involve removing the passenger seat and using its space till the following morning :) I did it once with a temp solution and it was lovely. I will just need to design an adequate setup that is simple yet effective, with a quick connect/release for the passenger seat to be a convenient solution. I saw a discussion on the forum from a Canadian member who was moving to Australia for one year and was asking about this possibility. If I successfully made it, I will share with all of you.
  8. Do you have any other accessories/recommendations that you want to pass over to me?

Love you all and wishing you an awesome time spent with your cars.

Would love to hear back from you :)

Helo!

No, there are lots of people on here, you are in the "blog" section that no one uses though.

Post up your first post in "introductions" and you'll likely get more replies.

Lift is easy, first step is to work out if you have the old or new type front struts, several posts under "suspension" section show how to measure them to identify the type.

Ohhh.. Thanx bob_oz for

Ohhh.. Thanx bob_oz for drawing my attention to that.
Having said that, where is "Introductions"?

On the strut part, will try to reach that posts and take it from that point.
Thanx again mate ;)

Easy

Hit the "home" button (top left) then scroll down. Each of the folder icons on the left is a forum topic area (engine, suspension etc) introductions is 4th from bottom.

Just pick the right area for a question, click into the folder and once inside you can start a new thread with the "new topic" button on the right.

Also the "search" section at the top is great for finding specific things I.e. snorkel / lift / strut etc
