Pajero iO Airconditioning Performance

Hi guys,

I have a 2002 Pajero IO Type ZR. All in pretty good condition with around 117,000km on the clock.

I puchased it 6 months ago and from day one new the AirCon needed a service (i assumed just a regas). My local auto electrician does all our company cars and is a good bloke so i took it to him. They checked the entire system with dye for leaks and found nothing however they did find that the condenser fan motor was burnt out and not engaging. They replaced this for me and regased the system.

Everything seemed to improve but a week later i took it back because i still felt it was cooler rather than icy cold and was not at 100% cooling power etc

They also agreed that it seemed a bit weak but after another detailed inspection couldnt find anything. Radiators are clean and seem to be working fine with no major damage.

How is the Aircon in other pajero ios? Do you guys feel its a bit weak too? Like its cool but not cold? Just keeps the sweat of you rather then after 30min having to turn it down because its getting too cool on an average 20-24 degree day? Let alone a 30 degree day which we get here in Sydney prett oftern over the summer!

Has anyone had any Aircon issues? I have spoken to one other owner who said her car was also average at best also so im wondering if its just a design thing which cant be improved.

Cheers guys

A/C

Mine as never been "icy" cold, but being in Canberra it is not a very big problem :)

This said, 20° inside while you have 24 ° outside doesn't seems right to me...

Happy io

QLD AC

i have a black IO and live in QLD - in summer when the cab is hot from parking in a carpark you do need to run it on fan speed 5 on max cold to get the temp down but once it is cold it will keep it cold.

closing the outside air makes a massive difference and if you cannot hear the little flap motor shutting the air intake you might be not sealing the cab up fully.

don't forget that the high roof inside gives you about twice the volume as a standard car so it will take a little bit longer (given that the fan and AC are really designed for a small car not a medium 4wd)
