Hello from Kosovo my name a Stanko I'm new in town. There is not much on the internet for the io and it is good to see this forum. Mine is an 03' auto with the 2.0gdi. For the record the great 225/75/16 km2 will not fit on my jeep. I was so excite to try but devastated to find out no. Now looking at some General Grabber 215/65/16. This year we have much snow.

Kosovo io

Welcome - that's some serious snow you've got there!

Did the KM2 tyres not fit under the spring pan? So far it has appeared that later model ios like yours should have the higher spring pan and be OK with these tyres, but maybe the Euro models are different. Have a look at the 'strut data' thread - perhaps you can add to the information we have already?

hello

Hello Stanko, you have a very nice car with leather seat, side step are hard to get here, just great. Mitsubishi Australia has stoped selling the io in 2002 and it is a pity! I am half surprise about the 225/75/16, even for us it is hard to find out what fit or not, mitsubishi have fitted different strut and it doesn't make modification easy.  I think that I am very lucky with my io. This said it would be good to know why they don't fit, and see what could be done to change that.

I miss the snow...

Happy io.

This my pain...strut pan

This my pain...strut pan shown with stock pirelli snow & ice 215/65/16. Km2 compared to stock size pirellis. Another strut job in the world future. :)

tyres

Ok, on the end of the day it is not that bad, the strut is, unfortunately a common problem. I am not sure if you have read all about the strut in this forum, it start to have a lot! Could you have a look at the section "best tire size and type..." then check the post 40 and 43 (and the rest, of course!). It is my car with the km2. Measure the strut from the bottom to just under the weld of the bottom plate of the strut. I am not sure if you tried the tyres on the wheel/car but if you find the strut to be 265 mm they should fit (tight but ok). If you find 245 mm they won't fit. In Australia the strut is either 265mm (the lucky one) or 245 mm, but we know that they are other size. This said you have different rim, they should be the same but they may not be. Have you bought the tyres?

Another tyres option could be the 215/70/16 BFG A/T I had them on for a few years and they are good, haven't try them on snow!

Let us know, Happy io.

new strut

I don't know why Mitsubishi have built different size strut. Make sure you do a bit more reading of the forum, at first it might be hard to follow but it is full of good idea. You can replace your strut by a different one, the one with the higher plate but you will have to change the spring, or get it reset as they don't have the same size spring. We have a few places in the forum where you will find different ways to make it good. If you are not sure...send a line.

Happy io

Welcome.

Hang around we're full of                                                                                                          ideas.

You sure that BFG tyre is 225 -75 -16?

In your profile picture it looks huge.
