browsing for a snorkel
so i was looking around and thinking of going along the same line as EBS and doing a diy snorkel with the k&n apollo air filter. anyway i typed in tr4 snorkel and came across this video.
its got some very nice front bar work and that sexy brazillian snorkel that we all know and love, so i thought i should sow you guys...
then i saw this one
and i was like, oh no fair. why do they get t have all the fun and mods...
i want that front bar sooooooo badly it hurts...
Snorkel options
Fielies' landcruiser snorkel looks good, but could be difficult to install in the engine bay.
I've been wondering about this one for a D22 Navara:
http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/624693547/Nissan_Navara_D22_snorkel.html
Its available on Tigerz11 for $68! I'm tempted to buy one, but I think getting my lift sorted is more of a priority than a snorkel at the moment.
If anyone is looking to DIY fit a different model snorkel, this one could be close to the right size and shape. Maybe....
If I had to guess ...
I'd say the angled section that runs up the A pillar will not match the iO - before putting down your money, find a Navarra and park alongside it - I believe the windscreen on the iO is slightly steeper - still $68 is a pretty attractive price.
DIY snorkel mod
I think the angle could be pretty easy to fix with a hair dryer or heat gun using appropriate care. (ie: not anywhere near the actual paint on the vehicle, and not overheating the plastic.)
The more important thing could be whether the flat part will 'enter' the guard in the right spot...
Navara snorkel
Nathen, you wont believe it but i already checked it out and the angle is very very close. it might be a small bracket on the a piller just to lift it closer to the snorkel but no problems. The thing you have to worry about is the lenght of the snorkel on the wheel arch and the indicator light as the land cruiser one i have barely was short enough and covered a quater of the light so im not going to use it :( we have navara snorkels here as well that is very short on the wheel arch so look for that? Im also looking at one now that are being used on the land rovers., as the come close to the door and not as far accross on the wheel arch. Remeber with our io's we have to look beyond the pajero brand to make things work so think crazy outside the box. Good luck
nice
Nice video, they are a lot more, at least we can see them...
Sooooo unfair....but again...we can have fun too...
P.S. I think that 3mm is too thin for an aluminium bash plate, but again someone have done one, I wonder how it goes (I have a 3mm aluminium spare sheet, I might use it to protect the transfer case)
Happy io...
My io is now SOLD Thankshttp://pajerio.com/forum/claudes-io-2002-zr-built-thread-onlyhappy-io
