key

Hello Liz, good to hear from you again

I replace the battery every year on mine and don't recall having any pb but I am sure that you will find someone here to help (like the hiding spark plug). First are you sure that you have the good battery? and are you sure that it is in the right way (positive/negative sides)? Sorry, this could be taken as a stupid question, but you have to start somewhere:) You could try to put the old battery back in (you said that it was working before) and see if it work or not.

Have you try to start the car, then stop, and try to lock/unlock the car?

I think that you only need to reprogram new keys and I don't think that you can do that yourself, this said, I have been wrong many time before...ask my wife!

Amazing what you can find with a search ...

But then - I knew it was there - and I'm too lazy to type it all over again so here's the link...

you might need to have

you might need to have someone with more experienc n this help you set up the key since i reckon this is your first time to change batteries. iyou have to make sure though that you did get a good set of batteries because if not, either way it wont work. its not much of a porblem, you should be alright, just be patient in reading the manual on this or you could actually look it up in youtube im sure someone made a how to video about it so it might help you a lot.

FIXED !!!

The remote is now working . . . and I didn't even have to lift a finger.

Parked my car at the shopping centre and locked the door with the key. The car then flashed every bloody light it had for a few seconds . . . then the remote magically started working again.

So I didn't have to pull the dash apart or anything WOOOHOOO

Best car in the world -> it repairs it's own problems =]

Thanks everyone again for helping =]

xx Liz

Remote

I'm a bit late to this conversation but my remote has also had some intermittent periods of not working. I replaced the battery on it the first time it happened and it still didn't work, then a few hours later it did. Still no idea what happened but it's been fine for a couple of months now.

off topic

To go a little off topic, I remember someone saying one all pajero ios came with the remote locking module, just some didnt come with remotes.  Has anyone tested this theory yet?

remote fault

Since a few days my remote wasn't working, and decided to get a new battery for it today. I opened it, and the battery fell out! after close (very close!) inspection, I noticed that on the positive side, there is a very small blade shape contact that touch the side of the battery. The contact wasn't happening as the blade moved about 1/4 mm away from the battery and got blocked by a tiny plastic bits in the key cover. I moved the blade back in position...and voila...it is working again.

I mentioned this because it is not easy to see and could be easily missed....The battery is now not falling from the key cover. I am not sure how this little spring blade move away from the side of the battery....

It's an easy check

1 - Put your key in the ignition

2 - Insert a jumper wire between positions 1 & 4 on the diagnostic connector (or ground position 1),

3 - Deprease & release the hazard light switch six times within 10 seconds of step #2

If the power locks transfer lock and unlock, the system is in programming mode - if they don't, you either missed the timing between steps #2 & #3 or the feature is missing.

I'm going from memory here, but I don't think that is shown as an option of the wiring diagrams, so they should all have it.
