Hi All

I have been a lurker on the forum since Glen first started Pajerio but have never posted.

So I thought its about time I did.

Since getting my iO alot has happened with a Move from Brisbane to Rockhampton and a new job and my Poor little iO has not moved once in 5 months but it is now time to get moving on the build so here she is my 2000 5 dr iO 1.8

Plans from here are the following....

50 to 100mm of Lift

Custom Steel rims with MT ATZ 4-Rib not sure on size till I work out the lift.

Air locker front and Kaiser rear.

Custom tube front and rear winch bars

duel batt and in cab air compressor

and I'm sure plenty more will follow anyway look forward to learning more from the forum.

lurking

Hello, being a "lurker" is not a bad thing, at least on this site! Sometime I wished I had the 4 doors, anyway 2 less to wash! I can see that you have the small rear access panel of the bumper missing as well, loss mine a couple of weeks ago:(

Nice and straight car.

All the best,

Happy io.

Hey Singlecell   I am a sales

Hey Singlecell

I am a sales rep up here so am usually in a Ford Falcon...

Got to get some mods done first then it will be time to wheel....

Have got the bug back after 2 weeks at stradie so will be a tourer type build....

Question when traveling at 110km/hr how many revs are you all doing?

I doing 4500 revs which seems super high and drinks the fuel... any easy ratio swaps ?

revs

My '99 1.8 5 door on standard 195/65 tyres was doing 100k/h at 3400rpm, which was more revs that I liked at cruising speed. With the 225/75 tyres I now have 100k/h is at 3150 which I like much better. It's too early to say what the rev drop and bigger/heavier/chunkier tyres has done to my fuel consumption, but I'm guessing I've gone from an average of 9.5l/100km to something below 9.

4500rpm at 110k/h seems very high.

Sell anything to the Base hospital?

There is a small 4x4 area out in parkurst that a stock IO can have some fun in. I head on there every fortnight or so to have a little drive around.

I am pretty sure I am around 4k at 110, thats in my 1.6L. Ill double check it this afternoon.  What ever it is I remember thinking it was higher then expected.

rev

I just went and to test drive a 5 doors io, 2002, with the 2 litres engine, original tyres size. The rev at 100km/h, is a bit under 3500rpm.

Happy io.

revs & diff(erences)

Hmmm. Mine seems to have a higher diff ratio than all the others here... which might explain why my low ratio doesn't seem low enough, even before the tyre change. Does anyone know the ratios in each gear - if 4th is 1:1 it would be interesting to get some comparison auto or manual, rev/speed/tyre details and figure out the diff differences, and a diff data thread to go with the Strut data one.

Edit to add: I found some transmission workshop manuals with ratio details and a lot of other useful stuff which I don't think is in the technical area already. I'll zip and upload it now. 4th is 1:1 on all manual models (don't know about autos).

Offset

7" you're looking for +36 - 40. Do you think they look strong enough for off road use?
