Hi

a few issues:

- The remotes I got with the car are both pretty banged up and coming apart at the upper end where there is no screw. Also having a separate remote and key seems a bit quaint. Does anyone have experience with kits that allow you to integrate the remote into a key? Doesn't have to be a folding key but should be solid. Pinin is not always mentioned in these aftermarket kits' compatibility lists.

- I'd like to put in an additional set of 12V and USB charging ports at the rear of the rear floor console. Where is a good place to draw current from in that area?

- I've removed the aux display hood successfully and got a notion of how to rip out the bezel, dash etc. from the manuals. But still... is there a video or some pictures of how to tear down the dash without damaging the parts?

- Where have you guys put in your cup holders? Pictures please. There's a plinth for an aftermarket armrest screwed in over the rear console storage but the actual armrest with built-in cubby hole is gone. I'm thinking of using that to fix a custom built plywood cup / bottle holder. I also thought about building a plywood sliding cup holder to replace the ashtray since there will be no smoking in my car anyway, but that would just put it closely in front of the gearshift.

- Where have you guys put in any smartphone holders? There's this Brodit Pro Clip holder http://www.brodit24.de/Brodit-ProClip/Mitsubishi/Shogun-Pinin/Brodit-Pro... that attaches to the right side of the centre console bezel but I'm not sure. If you fitted one of these tripod adapters to the top of the dash you might be able to have the phone double as a dashcam. Some even come with a ballhead but it's some two inches high so the phone would cover up a lot of windscreen area right where it might count.

Good luck with the remotes...

And when you find one that works let me know - the lone key that my car came with had a dead remote built into the key head - a new one lists at around $350, which I refuse to pay, and I don't mind if it's a separate fob.

For aux power, the easiest (and probably safest) place wll be to tap it off the front console cigarette lighter and run the wire down the tunnel under the console - just make sure not to overload the circuit by drawing too much current - I think it's rated at 10A, so more than enough for multiple cell phones & android devices.

Cupholders - look in the console cubby near the handbrake - on the left side there should be a retractable "finger" - it's supposed to divide the cubby so that it accomodates two cups - mine was broken, so I cut a new one and glued it to the top of the cubby.

Incredible prices. I assume

Incredible prices. I assume that's Mitsubishi OEM? I dread the day, I didn't get the little plate with the key number...

Those aftermarket folding key remote thingys run some 20 to 50 Euros on Amazon and Ebay here.

I've just not ordered one yet because they mostly seem to be complete remote kits with a different receiver and wire harness that you need to swap in, and some Amazon reviews indicate at least some are not too well thought-out. I was rather thinking of a key kit where you could implant the immobiliser transponder from the old key and the transmitter from the old fob. Those do seem to be available but they don't list Pinin as compatible even though some descriptions show the same type of fob and what appears to be the same type of key.

Yes - Mitsubishi OEM

Every other marque seems to have compatible transmitters available - just buy them & program the receiver to work with them - but I have yet to find one compatible with an iO.  I have even taken several other Mitsubishi transmitters and tried to program the receiver to work with them, but no luck - either my receiver is not working or nothing is compatible.
