I'm sure most of you know by now that there is a downloadable copy of the factory service manual in this section of the forum, when it is downloaded and unpacked, you'll find it contains several folders of PDF files with numeric names - 00.PDF, 11.PDF, etc. - forcing you to open them one by one until you find what you need.

There is an easier way, each folder contains a file called "FOREWORD.PDF" and when opened this reveals a "contents page" which actually has links to the other documents, the problem is that the links no longer work - I was able to unlock (actually decrypt) the FOREWORD.PDF file, and examine the links - to make the links work without going through a decryption & editing process, simply rename the individual files by prefixing the letters HF to each file name - so 00.PDF becomes HF00.PDF, 11.PDF becomes HF11.PDF and so on - I have only done this for the PININ folder as that is the only one that interests me, it may or may not work with the other folders, feel free to try it.

What were you using to open

What were you using to open and decrypt it?

I have access to a full version of Adobe and was going to see if I could merge all of these back up to one form with links as intended. But if this has been tried I'll save the time.

It was never intended to be "one form"

If Mitsubishi had released the manual as a "single form", the links in the encrypted document would not have called the separate documents that they do - what has happened along the way is that the individual file names have been changed so that the links no longer work, all my method does is to rename those files so the links in the original encrypted document now call them correctly.

To answer your question - I did not personally decrypt the document, and I have no idea how that was done - I opened the document and examined the links and having determined what files were being called, renamed the remaining files in the folder.
