Fuel pump hell

Hi there,

I am new to the forum and wish to see if I can get some help on this operation on my recently acquired Pajero 4M40 Diesel Turbo Intercooled 94 model.

Here it is, I an having issues with the fuel pump as there is apparently a new one intalled, it was overfuelling so I decided to take it to a propper diesel mechanic to set the injector timing. The mechanic said that he could not proceed to operation as the fuel pump was fitted incorrectly..

So now I'm at my workshop and looking at the fuel pump, there are 2 marks that are not lined up, one on the pump itself and one on the housing that its bolted onto that are not quiet matching. Now I have loosened the 2 mounting bolts but the fuel pump still cannot be moved. It just wont move.

That mechanic was very pessimistic on the fact that this fuel pump was jammed there and could not move. He reckonned that it would cost me up to 1000 bucks to do so. I am a confirmed DIY mechanic and been doing it for years, just trying to get some insight as I dont want to be mucking around.

Is there any retaining bolts inside the cover or what? If anybody know anything about this topic please let us know..

Thanks in advance.

First - welcome to the forum

Second - there's not likely to be too many folks here with experience on the full sized Pajeros - this is after all - a forum dedicated to the Pajero iO
