Hi,I'm Peter, out back of kyogle NSW,had my io 1.8 L 99 model ,for about 3 years-my first 4wd and love it.

Hasn't been free of probs though, after 1 year owning was driving '@100ks between casino and Kyogle, when had complete loss of power?

Timing belt had snapped !so the engine was cooked.$2400 later had a new engine.(check your timing belts)

other than that just had the exhaust muffler and pipe done again. rear sway bar snapped 6 months ago. And rear left light replaced.

It was emaculate when I purchased it,like new,(Doubt it had seen dirt) I had never seen a second hand car so well presented. He wanted $7500 but I got it for $7000.

Had done so much research, as I live on 12 ks of dirt road that can turn to mud and one creek crossing that will  rise quickly then flood, also something economical not a big 4wd or a pretend one.(almost got a terios)

My first trip was 2 weeks after I got it- up to inskip (rainbow beach QLD) always wanted to drive through sand and on a beach. so it was perfect, took me a few days to get up the guts try the sand LOL. Also while camped in a sandy spot I towed out 3 x 2wd cars, much to my amazement and the gratitude of the young people bogged.

It was great on the beach, although real soft sand it did start to sink a little (maybe even less air in the tyres?) managed not to be bogged in front of all the bigger 4wds heading for the Fraser island ferry:)

Since then its mainly been here on the farm,  been through quite a few raised creek crossings, driving through  real muddy paddocks,. a couple of knocks by a neighbours gone feral razorback pigs on the  front +rear bumper bar and back and forth along the 12 ks of dirt.

Dirt  and mud roads and the io goes well, but its impossible to keep it free of dust and as imaculately clean inside and out- as it was years ago. I can spend a weekend vacumming and cleaning and 2 days later you wouldn't know :( Only a high pressure hose will remove the road dust) only to return very quickly.

I  am planning another trip to Inskip in mid May 2013.

-6 months ago I noticed 4 x ios parked in town, and wondered if locals? or some convention, haven't seen them since?

here is some tame pics on  rainbow beach and camping.

Cheer io.

Welcome to the forum. I used

Welcome to the forum.
I used to live in Coffs Harbour, you live in one of the most beautiful parts of Australia IMHO. I hope to move back there one day, but for now I just try to spend my holidays up there from my home in Sydney.
Maybe I'll organise a trip up that way eventually to meet up. :)

Size is not important; it's how you use it that matters!

Thanks,Coffs and

Thanks,

Coffs and Nambucca/Macksville are nice too. Everyone is welcome here Maybe next spring or summer?

I have 37 acres and a nice creek to camp beside with swim holes, platypus yabbies and some perch. There is a  not too steep semi rocky (sometimes muddy hill) which was graded again by a bulldozer over a year ago to climb. Whole paddocks to trek around and 5 creek crossings along the road past my place. They have concrete causeways, but can be fun if not too flooded.

Also plenty of fire trails and national park roads and trips to explore not far and easily come back and camp here each day.

I had 20 camp sites for the world rally back in 2009, and the road near here was part of the course. August  8/9/ 10/11 will see that road probably used again by Gold coast Tweed Motorsporting club, for the Border ranges Rally on Sunday August 11.

Had a Southern Nsw ex rally driver give my io a run along some of the roads nothing too radical, but was fun.

Also have outdoor movies on a huge screen we could see some members runs full size:)

Will upload some pics of the farm and creek soon

cheer io

I have thought of selling.

I have thought of selling. Probably wouldn't get anywhere as nice been here 8 years.

Toonumbar dam is only 20 mins from here stocked with heaps of fish and canoeing- a popular spot. I have a large dam ready to be stocked:)

Welcome from Mt tamborine!

Hi,

welcome! I live up on Mt Tamborine just over the border and am keen for more trips down and around the coffs-Mt warning area.

Your farm sounds great? maybe think about an Io gathering when the weather warms up :)

Fantastic! looks like a good spot for an iO meetup maybe when the rally is on :)

I have an uncle with 10 acres in Tyalgum, I love that part of the world!

Welcome to the forums BTW, Always like to hear from long time iO owners that are still happy with them!

Hi there Peter, I was camping

Hi there Peter,

I was camping at inskip last weekend! Maybe next time you head up there I might have to come out for a bit of fun in the sand?

A few of us are going 4wding out at Woodford (past caboolture) next weekend on the 11/5/13 Would be great if you could come but if you can make it I understand as it is a bit of a hike from kyogle but It is doable

Happy iO
