Hi I'm Edo from Holland.I have a land rover defender, but looking for some moore reliable car whit hi and lo gear and lock up like the IO.Whit lift kit and hi tyres

So watt is the best? 1.8 or 2l.prone on rust?

Id love a 2ltr for extra power, But the 1.8 manages OK, I will turbo charge mine oneday to make up for it :)

I have no rust on mine, Im not sure what others experiance with rust is like?

The link above will take you to a thread on the forum, that may or may not be a rust related problem - it's a little confusing - but it seems that at least one forum member has had the right side strut bar bracket come loose.  The reason I point this out is that this item is directly below the battery, and any spilled battery acid or electrolyte may have the result - my car has no rust there, but it also has no paint there - I've taken the pre emptive step of treating it with a rust neutralizer.

I've also come across a couple of reports on the net that suggest the fuel tank filler pipe, which runs above the right rear arch may be susceptible to rust, but no personal experience.
