So I went to Halfords with my paint number from the Vin plate - A71574 14A000 - and they said it was not the code and to phone the dealer.  So I checked this table http://www.mdocuk.co.uk/paintcodes.htm and now assume the first three characters are the key to the code - A71 - which gives Hamilton Silver ( the Junior is silver of some sort ).  Do I use the key A71 or one of the other numbers that are on that line or something compltely different??

Do it right, use Hammerite.

Why simpify when it is simpler to complicate.

I think that A71 should be it, tell them for what car it is as well.

Yes thanks Claude.  I thought that too after checking;  it must be Hamilton silver.  Is that a colour from a racing team??  I have found a German supplier on eBay selling A71 for a bit less than the Halfords price so Halfords has lost a sale.
