Pajero TR4 "Engraçadinha" from Brazil
Hello, greetings from Brazil...
This is my 2006 Pajero TR4 AT, that I use both as my day-car and my offroad ride...
I just lifted it 3" last week, so, I'm still fine-tunnig my gear..LOL
Some pics...still in original set, without the lift.
Cheers!!!
Daniel (Sem Loção)
Thks!
Hey, Claud... well, your nickname is a very common first name here in Brazil.. "Claudio"... ;)
Thanks for your kind words..
Well, indeed we got some good parts here, since MMC Brazil is still making the Pajero TR4, which passed a "facelift" 2 yrs ago... I have a 2001 TR4 too (is my wife's car..)
I just posted some pics about my lift and a problem I saw with the tie rods, at the Lift Thread...

Maybe I'll get a new thread later, with all the fine tunnings I'm doing...
Cheers!
Txs
Those are some awesome action photos. I would love to have something like that near my place.
Thanks, Singlecell..
Where are you from?...
I love the 3d Pinin/iO models... But, we simply don't have those here in Brazil.... At the time we had here the iO's from Japan, it was all 5d... and when it became TR4, from MMC Brazil, still only available in 5d model... :(
Thank you, Claud... another
Thank you, Claud... another one,....

Finally
I went offroad this weekend.... the official lifted test drive....
WOW.... The difference was HUGE!... I rode thru this trail about 1yr ago, with my other TR4 (2011, original) and had some big bad times.... This time the trail was harder due to raining season, an my lifted TR4 made it with no stress at all!!..

hey mate,i love your lift
hey mate,
i love your lift option. i am very keen to dot it, as i can get the material with no fuss, but im not confident on actually doing it myself, because ive never done anything like this before, and wouldnt know where to start. do you think you might be able to do a sort of step by step presentation for those of us that dont have the know how? or maybe point us to a website that has that information.
thanks.
Step-by-Step
For sure!
Right now I'm at work (Brazil',s time: 5:14pm)...
As a note, I'm no way some kind of engineer. In fact I'm a doctor, anesthesiologist... ;)
Of course, I'm a self-learning man, and since I was a kid, I followed my father's mechanics free-time job. Indeed, that was what inspired me...
It's a pleasure to be considered to help anybody to change its vehicle.. and everything I made, was also with help from someone who have already made it. This is the way knowledge is build, and it is useless if you can't share....
As I always say, "Ordinary cars are for ordinary people".. ;)
As soon as i got some time, I'll sum it up with my pics and post here for yoour consideration...
Cheers!

LOL...
I really enjoyed that.
Love the multi camera shots.
Looks like you have excellent offroading areas.
What's up with the Suzuki & black Tr4 going around @ 12.00 min?
They should be ashamed of themselves.
Cheers.
Thanks!
about my buddies on the Samurai and the black TR4........ indeed.... we call it here "PBSW problem".... "Piece Behind Steering Wheel problem"...LOLLLL
They found better not to cross the last river..... well... I found it was a niiiiiice idea....

What can I say....whoa!! nice! nice!
I know that your tyres are still good but something a bit bigger and a bit more 4x4 only will make a BIG difference. (not, even, talking diff lock!). I am not sure about the choice of colour for the jeep, pink? really:). The passage at 7mn41sec was a bit limit for the io! No darling, he cannot be saved!!!!
Fun,fun,fun...
Happy io
almost?
I think he got lucky! I think that I would have ...turn around!
Don't you love that metal noise that the io makes while doing this sort of move! The bigger problem with this drop-of is that it is in the middle of a bend, and hard to approach properly (perpendicular to the drop, and NOT in angle) your colleague nearly learn the hard way!
Again, NICE,
Happy io
Squeeze.... cracks...
LOL... I'm so used to that noise... squeeze...squeeze...
My last ride compilation (the last scene is the video above) with some more "squeeze-situations"
The girl's voice at background is my wife which was shoting the action....looll... "ouch"... "ooooooy"
Upgrade...
Gentleman,
IT IS UPGRADE TIME!!...
Next Saturday I'm going to replace my half-life TOYO OPEN COUNTRY AT for som "grown up" tires...

next maybe...
Marshal Road Venture MT KL71 - LT225/75R16 110Q
Daniel, take advantage of that 2,5" lift and buy BIGGER tires!!
Nah... just did extensive research... 16" rims are sooo hard to find bigger tires... 245/75R16 fit but must put spacers..... and some mods on the wheel arch, and my TR4 is AT, which means it has not the "highest" torque in the world...LOL... with 30.5 or 31" tires it would be like a turtle.... besides, I'm goin to keep my half-life nice TOYOS to use as a remold with an aggressive design, like yours, as soon as I could manage two sets...
In fact it is a 29.3".... It misses only 1cm in the vehicle height compared to a 30"...
225/75/16
Ha....at last, some good rubber:) I don't know these tyres, but I think you are going to regret one thing....not buying them earlier:) you are going to drive a complete new car with them on!
The lift is not the only thing to able bigger tyres, as the lower strut plate won't allow anything bigger without spacer, or new rim with different offset.
Next d...l...!
Happy io.
Kumho on wet road
Claude - I think they perform very well off road, on road and in the wet I really have no idea if the level of grip they offer is more or less than any other MT tyre - all I can say is that so far the level of grip has been adequate - I don't expect them to have much grip so I take it very easy in the wet. It only gets used for local trips in the weekend so I'm never really in a hurry with it on road.
Daniel - can we get some more pictures?
Any chance you could post a couple of engine pictures? I'm curious as to what changes have been made on the Brazilian production TR4s and I'd like to see especially where the air intake is - I want to see if a Barazilian snorkel will fit on a Japanese vehicle, maybe try to get someone to bring one across the border.
Thanks much
Sure!

Sure, here it is... this is from my 2006AT engine coffin.... my 2011 AT air intake is exactley the same setup
YELLOE -> front air intake
RED ->conection wher i put some silicon "glue" to avoid water entrance
BLUE -> Level of mud/water spilled in the ride.. LOL
My guess
My guess is that our snorkels wold be a plug'n play...
as a side note, IMHO the MIT iO/TR4 project is really well done. There's a huge contest and debate here in Brazil to see which SUV suits better for the offroad, between TR4 x Gran Vitara (generation II).... on GV's positive side is the body/frame setup, but I have ssen GV's air intake and it is DOWN ON THE WHEEL BOX!!!.... any 30cm of water could easily reach the air intake.... in iO/TR4 I have already passed as deep as the water breifly covering the hood (just some meters, some secondsof course) and have open the hood imeddaitely after. Air filter 100% dry, and absolutely NO SIGN of water into the air hoses...]
Cheers!
What do you consider a Gen II Grand Vitara?
The first Grand Vitaras were released in 1998 (1999 for the US market), and the second were released in 2006 - the 98~05 are body-on-frame trucks, the 06 and later are unibody (like the Pajero iO/TR4), so what you're descrbing is probably a first gen.
Yes the air intake is in the right side fender, but it's at roughly the same height as the intake on the iO (it's above the wheel) - I have both the iO and a 98 GV and you're going to need OVER 90cm of water to get to it.
Sorry
I guess you're right...
we have the Vitara here
and the Grand Vitara (gen I I guess?) that I was talking about
I didnt know the air intake was high... In fact I don't have one, I saw a friend's GV I who was showing me exactly this point, for me it seemed that the air intake hose was donw on the right fender.... may I assume it continues up into the fender, Fordem?
We have some pretty prepared GVs here too... ;)
Hello Daniel
Welcome, great pictures. Brazil is a lot more lucky than us regarding our 4wd, you have a lot more aftermarket part than us. I hope that you are going to tell us a lot more to the how you lifted your car by 3"
. Hope to read a lot more about your TR4.
It looks like the small plate under the rear number plate, on the bumper, doesn't hold well....mine is lost too ...somewhere...
Happy io...TR4...
My io is now SOLD Thankshttp://pajerio.com/forum/claudes-io-2002-zr-built-thread-onlyhappy-io
