Site updates
Hey guys, its LONG overdue, but i finally have some time while im on holidays here in the Seychelles to do some upgrades to the site.
The site will be offline at times, but mostly between 1am and 6am Australian eastern states time, so hopefully will not bother anyone to much!

Hi, Glen, I am not sure what the update will bring....but if you could do something to stop the spam in the blog section that will be a bonus. It has not been a big problem as such because they are not that many, and it has only been with the blog section, the rest is good. Just some fine tuning !!
The Seychelles.....hard life.....is it another honeymoon !? enjoy...
For Nzio, I am sure that she prefer him to look at the computer than the beautiful girls around the pool...lol...

well so far the update has just stuffed up the user Avitars hahaha.
But I will be updating the entire site in about 4 weeks time, so im not going to worry to much about the small updates yet, with any luck the site will be mobile phone friendly too!
I have some better spam control im going to install tomorrow, im confident that will solve 99% of the problems.
I also need to renew the hosting and was wandering if i should stick up a paypal donate buttton to try and help cover my costs? I use bluehost so its only $180 for 3years including domain.

Yeah the donations button should be working. can someone try and donate a small amount, $1 or so, ill confirm its all working and safe to make the $10,000 donations after that :)
I have just updated the spam filters to include a question and answer requirement. Fingers crossed this will stop 99+% of the robot users! Reports from others are good so im pretty confident. The logs show about 5 sign up attemps that have been blocked by it since I installed it 1 hr ago!
Ill change the user settings to allow posts as soon as new members sign up, This should be safe to do again now ....
EDIT: yes the paypal button is working fine, If i had checked my email before i replied id have already seen that CLAUDE IO had already given an extremely generous Donation! Thanks mate! a couple more like that and we will be covered for the next 3 years

I just reverted back to the older version of Author pane and the user avitars are working again.
Now that the spam filters seem to be working very well, im tempted to delete all the non genuine users, the problem is i dont realy know what ones they are.
I was considering deleting users that have not been active on the forum at all since initial sign up 1yr + ago. worse case they can always sign up again?

Looking good to me, the list of member that you mentioned have been removed before, I think that someone have already done the cleaning....I used to block the spammer, and following Nzio, advice, I delete them now. I just check, even if you remove the member that haven't used the site for more that 6 month, that only approx 30 of them...Anyway, as you said, they can open a new account, if they wish...

I think if someone hasn't logged in ever , or for a few months, you're safe deleting them.
Spam has certainly died right down - good to be on top of it, I don't want to go through deleting another 117 pages of posts about fashion handbags and SEO consultancy!

Id end up been deleted by myself for non activity and suspected spam member with the amount iv been on over the past year! hahaha,
