I was surfing the io for sale add and I found this picture, this car seems to have some hooks at the lower front, is it to fit a nudge bar ?? other ??

This does seems to change the approach angle a fair bit...

Pretty sure...

I believe they are connected to the steering arm so that you can tow the iO behind a caravan or similar..if that makes sence...because thats the reciving hitch type for a towed vehicle behind a caravan. My grandparents use to tow around a zook with the same mounts.

Yes!

Yes, got it ! smart !! Does the car speedo would increase (distance, not speed) when towed that way ? or the speedo doesn't move because the engine is not running ?

Doesnt increase

Pretty sure it doesnt...just a stab in the dark but im not sure the iO counts kms when the engine is off or in neutral..I havent confirmed this but otherwise you would rack up an insane ammout of kms on a car that doesnt actually drive them. that and people would have found a different way to tow there car..

Does it increase??

This is actually an interesting question...

On older vehicles with cable driven speedometers/odometers it did/does increase - the speedometer function is not related to the engine being on or off - but on a newer vehicle with an electrically driven speedo, the power goes off when you switch off the ignition, so it could depend on how the vehicle is wired - I'm not certain how it's handled on an iO (which has an electrically driven speedo), but I've noticed quite a few cars will turn the odometer on for about 20~30 seconds when you open the driver's door, even with the key out of the ignition, suggesting it is still powered.

does it increase

Another question regarding this type of towing on the io, what happen with the front diff ? My understanding is that the front diff gets disconnected once the engine start, using the vacuum system....isn't it ?

Another good question.

The front axle disconnect requires vacuum to work, there is a storage "canister" which will hold some amount of vacuum, but at some point the system could engage.

Something I should point out - the right axle is always connected to the differential and because of this the side gear & differential pinions rotate with the axle - the vacuum disconnect disconnects the left axle and allows the left side gear to spin freely as driven by the diff pinions and the right side gear - it seems to me like a lot of wear could occur, but ...
